Mayor of Fingal, Cllr Darragh Butler lit the lamp to mark the opening of the festival. The event was organised by Swords Cricket Club which is run by members from the Indian community. 'We had huge numbers attending from all over Fingal, Whitehall and Ashbourne and this was our third annual event.' 'We were delighted with the turn out for the celebrations,' said Serin Philips, one of the organisers. The festival celebrations took place at Old Borough School Hall in Swords where 23 different curries, rices and other traditional foods were served up on banana leaves, while there was plenty of fun and games for children and adults alike. ![]() A cultural celebration to mark the Indian harvest festival Onam was attended by over 500 people from the Indian community in the Fingal area last weekend. ![]()
